Description
A mains fencer for permanent fences that run through vegetation and hold cattle, sheep, goats or boar, including animals that are hard to hold because of fleece, hide or temperament. It puts out 10 J and adjusts its output to the load on the fence as vegetation grows.
Three lights and a voltage bargraph tell you what's happening: blue means large losses, such as vegetation or bad insulators; green shows the pulse; red means a problem with the earth when a return test stake is fitted.
Lacme's earthing advice: galvanised steel stakes 1 m long, 2 m apart, linked with galvanised cable, at least 5 in good ground and 10 or more in difficult ground, and at least 10 m from other earths. In dry or poorly conducting ground with big animals, use a three-wire fence with the bottom wire as an earth return.
