TAMS 3 is the Department of Agriculture's grant for farm buildings and equipment. It pays 40% to 60% of the cost of approved items, and a good share of what we sell qualifies.
What the grant covers
- 40% of the approved cost for most farmers.
- 60% for young farmers aged 18 to 41, women farmers aged 18 to 67, and organic farmers in the Organic Farming Scheme.
- 60% for everyone under the Farm Safety Scheme, which covers handling equipment such as crushes, head scoops, calving gates and mobile cattle handling units.
- Up to €90,000 of spending per farm (€160,000 for a registered farm partnership), with at least €2,000 in each application.
- The grant is worked out on the lowest of the Department's reference cost for the item, what you paid before VAT, and the cost on your application.
Items on the Department's list include automatic calf feeders, milk carts with mixers, calving pens and gates, cattle crushes and races, mobile cattle handling units, solar water pumps, electric and solar fencing, and biomass chippers.

How to apply
- Get a quote from us for what you need: ring us, or use the callback form on the product.
- Apply online at agfood.ie before you pay anything. Money paid before you apply can’t be grant-aided.
- Wait for the Department’s written approval before you buy or install. A deposit paid after applying counts, but it’s at your own risk if the application isn’t approved.
- Buy, paying from your own bank account (not cash, and not hire purchase or lease), then claim online within 12 months of approval with the paid invoice and a photo of each item.
We'll give you a written quote for your application. Our invoices show what the Department asks for: your name and address, each item's price before VAT, the VAT, and the serial number where there is one.
